• And America's Next Top Model is...
Posted on 13 May 2008
WARNING: The following post contains spoilers in regards to the crowning of this Wednesday's winner of "America's Next Top Model".
SCNN sources have obtained exclusive information on who will be crowned America’s Next Top Model this Wednesday on the CW: Tyra Banks, the first plus-sized model winner in the history of America’s Next Top Model.
“Tyra is over the moon,” said our insider, “She has been waiting for 10 seasons to finally get this recognition. She really worked hard to get her performance up. That and everybody was sick of hearing her whine about how she could out-pose all the contestants.” The head judge has apparently voted for herself every cycle, and this year fellow judges Paulina Porizkova, Nigel Barker, and Miss J. Alexander finally saw just how much the camera loves Tyra.
Ms. Banks, a former Victoria’s Secret model, beat out finalists Dominique, Fatima, Anya, and Whitney for the coveted Top Model spot. “For so long she was the girl with all the potential in the world, but who just couldn’t deliver a good photo,” said Mr. Jay Manuel yesterday. “Now she can join the elite ranks of ANTM winners who have gone on to star in ‘My Life as a Covergirl‘ and, well, not much else really.” Miss J. concurs: “Tyra is on track to be the most successful Top Model winner in ANTM history. I know that’s not saying much, but she’ll really get some exposure out of this. Even though everybody’s pretty sick of her already.”
As for rumors that Banks only won to prove that the fashion industry is ready for a plus-sized model, our source had this to say: “Absolutely not. It’s despicable that anyone would suggest that Tyra won for any reason other than her ability. Also, the fashion world really isn’t ready for a regular-size model, much less plus-sized.”
Whitney, Tyra’s plus-sized competitor, is reportedly a little miffed that Tyra has stolen the title of First Big Girl Winner. “I didn’t even know she was competing,” she was overheard saying, “If I had, I would have eaten everything in the house to get my boobs as big as hers.”
Okay, so this isn't actual news, just a spoof I found online. Although I have to admit.. this is some funny stuff. Now imagine... what if?

April 30, 2008 - Tyra Banks on 'The Today Show'.
This aired quite a while back - actually, the same day that she was on 'The View' to talk about her Emmy nomination. During that time, I only found her appearance on 'The View' (and posted it), but failed to grab hold of 'The Today Show' clip (until today). Anyways, whether or not you missed it, it's up for y'all to enjoy.

• ABC unveils fall lineup
Posted on 13 May 2008
I'm still frustrated with the fact that Ashton and Tyra's new reality show is still untitled. Perhaps they should just go along with 'Untitled'? Anyhow, I'm totally stoked!
ABC went for stability with its fall 2008 schedule as expected, adding only a handful of new shows -- the time-traveling police drama "Life on Mars," Ashton Kutcher's alternative game show "Opportunity Knocks," as well as another Kutcher-produced reality series, a beauty pageant with a twist, which he is doing with Tyra Banks.
At the Tuesday morning press conference in New York City, ABC Entertainment president Stephen McPherson also officially announced the acquisition of NBC comedy "Scrubs." Among the news at the presentation: The 2008-09 season will be "Boston Legal's" last and "Oprah's Big Give" is not coming back.
"Big Give" had modest sucess and won its time period on Sunday nights.
"We loved that show and absolutely would have loved to bring it back," ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson said. "But it was something (Oprah) didn't want to do."ABC describes the Tyra Banks/Ashton Kutcher reality show as "a beauty pageant unlike any you've ever seen.
"It combines 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" with 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' and is right in our brand," McPherson said.
ABC plans to roll out the bulk of its fall schedule during premiere week in September.
Here is the official ABC lineup for this fall. Not too shabby!
Mondays 8 p.m. -- Dancing with the Stars / Untitled Tyra Banks-Ashton Kutcher (new) 9:30 p.m. -- Samantha Who? 10 p.m. -- The Bachelor / Boston Legal
Tuesdays 8 p.m. -- Opportunity Knocks [New] 9 p.m. -- Dancing Results Show/Scrubs (new)/Goode Family (new) 10 p.m. -- Eli Stone
Wednesdays 8 p.m. -- Pushing Daisies 9 p.m. -- Private Practice 10 p.m. -- Dirty Sexy Money
Thursdays 8 p.m. -- Ugly Betty 9 p.m. -- Grey's Anatomy 10 p.m. -- Life on Mars (new)
Fridays 8 p.m. -- Supernanny 9 p.m. --Wife Swap 10 p.m. --20/20
Sundays 7 p.m. -- America's Funniest Home Videos 8 p.m. -- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition 9 p.m. -- Desperate Housewives 10 p.m. -- Brothers & Sisters

CW is reportedly adding on to America’s Next Top Model with yet another show from its star and exec producer Tyra Banks. Word on the street is the network has decided to pick up “Stylista”, another weekly reality competition it will likely pair with Next Top Model in its lineup. Stylista is described as the reality TV version of The Devil Wears Prada.
Contestants will serve as assistants to Elle mag fashion news director and a different assitant will be eliminated each week.
Stylista was original ordered as an 8 episode run for the spring and summer but apparently the CW liked it so much they’re saving it for the fall.

Yes, another stabbing in relation to a television airing of "America's Next Top Model".
A Columbia City woman was stabbed and nearly killed last month allegedly because she and her friends were being too loud watching "America's Top Model."
On Friday, the reality show struck again. This time, Tyra Banks and her gaggle of wiry model wanna-be's were at the heart of a sibling squabble in Northgate fit for a taping of Jerry Springer.
It started when a teacher in her twenties told her younger brother he'd been playing video games "for hours" and said she wanted to watch a recorded episode of "America's Next Top Model," according to a police report.
Her brother, also in his twenties, became "irate." He threw a remote control at his sister. It hit her hand and nicked the TV. Apparently undaunted, she went for the wall socket and started to unplug his video game. Pretty soon both were wrestling with the wires and each other until the sister called 911 and the brother ran from the house on the 1200 block of Northeast 102nd Street "in an unknown direction."
Once again, these two are in their twenties.
The woman had "red marks and a small bruise" on her hand, according to the report. The struggle also left her with a small scratch on her knee. No charges were filed.

• "Sometimes I feel guilty for how much money I have."
Posted on 06 May 2008
Tyra Banks is going where no other supermodel has gone before. With two hit TV shows to her credit - America's Next Top Model (now in production on its 11th cycle in the US) and her daytime talk show The Tyra Banks Show (on TV2, weekdays at 11am) - the supermodel-turned-TV mogul is raking in the dough.
Though she earned respectable model bucks when she first started stomping down runways at age 15, the really good money arrived when she graced the covers of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue and GQ - the first black woman to do either and was contracted to represent Victoria's Secret lingerie. Even now that she's 34 and officially retired from modelling in 2005, she is reportedly as highly paid as she was at her peak, earning US$50,000 a day.
Banks earned at least US$18 million last year, far more than most supermodels and was ranked number 61 on the 2007 Forbes Celebrity 100 money list. (Oprah Winfrey made $260 million, putting her one spot ahead of pro golfer Tiger Woods). She also owns 25 per cent of America's Next Top Model (through her company Bankable Productions) which is syndicated to more than 100 countries around the globe.
Although Winfrey, with a net worth of some $1.4 billion, has been the unchallenged queen of daytime talk for two decades, Banks (who actually served as a "youth correspondent" on Oprah between 1999 and 2000) is making inroads. Advertisers have flocked to her daytime show, which draws a highly coveted youth audience. Some 36 per cent of the Tyra audience is under 35, double that of Oprah viewers (almost 60 per cent of the Oprah audience is 50 or older.)
A "fierce" work attitude and a determination to escape poverty - she grew up with her mother and younger brother in a one-bedroom apartment in gritty Inglewood, Los Angeles - has reportedly made Banks frugal, and fearful of losing everything. Although she won't reveal her net worth, in an interview last year with Vanity Fair magazine, she did say of her success: "Sometimes I feel guilty for how much money I have."

• More info in regards to the upcoming 'Emmys'
Posted on 03 May 2008
"The View," which broadcast the announcement live Wednesday morning, came away with nominations for talk show/entertainment and for its co-hosts, among other categories.
"The View" has only won once for best show, in 2003. "Ellen" has won every year since 2004, and last year won a total of six Daytime Emmys. But this year's split of the talk-show category into two awards could shake things up.
"Ellen," "Rachael Ray" and "The View" are vying in the talk show/entertainment category; talk show/informative noms are for PBS' "A Place of Our Own," "Dr. Phil" and "The Tyra Banks Show."

This is what Tyra had to say in regards to recent controversy surrounding Miley Cyrus' photo spread in Vanity Fair.
Tyra Banks, among many other celebrities, have come to the defense of shamed Disney star Miley Cyrus.
Tyra told the view, “She is a 15-year-old, and I just wish everybody would leave her alone!”
She went on to say, “There were definitely jobs they would ask me to do,” she said, referring to a request for Banks to pose nude for the legendary Pirelli calendar."
"Disney and the public needs to lighten up on Miley. The photos were not ‘that’ bad and she definitely does not deserve to be punished for them."

• Stabbed over 'Top Model Noise'
Posted on 26 Apr 2008
Seems a bit absurd to actually stab someone over something so trivial. Anyways, I'll be sure to whip out my headphones this Wednesday when Top Model is on.
A woman who suffered life-threatening stab wounds to her chest and neck Wednesday allegedly was attacked by another woman who had been upset that she was too loud while watching "America's Next Top Model."
Police say the 42-year-old victim and her friends were in a Columbia City apartment drinking beer and watching the reality show hosted by former supermodel Tyra Banks, in which women compete for a chance to launch their modeling careers.
The alleged attacker, an acquaintance of the victim, told the other woman to stop talking loudly. A police spokesman did not specify how they knew each other.
When the "Top Model" fan refused, police say the other woman then opened the apartment door and told her to get out, according to a police report. Police said the argument then turned physical, with one woman having a clump of her hair pulled out. The attacker then pulled a paring knife from a nearby apple and began stabbing the 42-year-old, according to a police report.
Witnesses were able to pull the knife away and separate the two before police say one ran into a bedroom. Medics and police were called about 9:30 p.m. to the apartment in the 5000 block of 37th Avenue South.
Police spokesman Jeff Kappel said the woman's stab wounds were so severe, medics who rushed her to Harborview Medical Center called for donor blood. A police officer found her lying on a neighbor's couch with a blood-soaked towel covering a chest wound roughly 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch wide, the report said.
The woman had gone upstairs and knocked on the neighbor's door for help, saying she had been stabbed and her money was taken. Police found the clump of hair in a garbage can, but did not find a weapon. The suspect was still at large early Thursday evening.
